AMETHYST

Chemical compounds:  Dioxide of silicon, family of quartz.

Color:  Violet, purple, varies from lighter shades to darker ones.

Etymology: Comes from the Latin “Amethystos”, and Greek “Amethyein” which means protection against drunkenness (inebriation).
